Dating Scams in Atlantic City
CBS3 in Philadelphia reported a story about an Atlantic City man who scammed at least 80 women through telephone and online dating sites. Paatrick Giblin (41) set up accounts all over the country and contacted women in different areas. He’d tell the women he was planning to relocate to their area and was looking for a romantic relationship. Then, down the road a piece, he’d say that he needed money for the move and asked for loans.
Whatever he got, he seems to have gambled away in the Atlantic City casinos. Giblin has moved, since he has been in federal custody since March, 2005.
Never, never, never give money to anyone you meet online!

Now, Mebbe the ol’ Geez is a little slow, but I just don’t get the crime here. I see this prosecuted occasionally, but only when a man takes money from a woman.
Never when a woman takes, or solicits money from a man for the same thing!! Why is one a crime, and not the other?
Soliciting a gift is not a crime. Asking for a loan is not a crime. Proof that he did NOT intend to relocate is elusive.
So, maybe, some day, someone can put it in real simple terms even I can understand.
I don’t like to see anyone taken advantage of by a financial preditor of any sex, but foolishness of money in affairs ‘d heart is nothing new, nor a crime, save for a crime of stupidity.
So, what is the female equivalent of letting the little head do the thinking for the big head, anyway?
